Dimapur, January 25: The Chakhroma Sports Association’s 50th anniversary celebration culminated today with Zhaleo Rio, IAS (Retd.), Advisor, Sericulture, Excise & Minority Affairs as the special guest at the local ground, Chümoukedima Town.
Speaking at the function, Zhaleo congratulated the CSA for overcoming all hurdles through decades reaching the 50th milestone. He felicitated all medal winners saying that winners should not bask in their victories but rather strategise to excel in the next higher level. He also encouraged losers to strive with stronger determination so that they may win in future.
Rio lauded all the sportspersons of Chakhroma who have earned laurel and ranks at state as well as national level. He advised that it is time for Chakhroma people to move ahead wherein leaders should put more effort to nurture and produce exemplary sportspersons even in the field of games and sports.
Rio stressed that the Government is committed to support deserving sportspersons and called upon parents and leaders to promote different sports at various levels in the society.
The function was followed by a grand ceremonial feast on account of CSA’s 50th anniversary celebration.
Earlier in the day, marathon race for both men and women as well as football final was conducted where Group-D emerged champion in football defeating Group-B in a closely contested match.
In the marathon race which began from Razhaphe village and culminated at local ground, Chümoukedima town, Keneivino (Group-C), Megokhono (Group-C) and Zekuvono (Group-C) from the women category while Kevizhapu Terhüja (Group-D), Kevimedo Dolie (Group-D) and Pelesatuo (Group-B) won the first, second and third position respectively.
