Dimapur, August 8: The Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam, Nagaland and Manipur) has urged the Prime Minister of India not to change the present Interlocutor of Indo-Naga talks, R N Ravi before signing of the final agreement between the Naga Political Groups (NPGs) and the Government of India.
In a representation to the Prime Minister, ZB (AMN) president, Athuan Abomnai and general secretary, Gainithoi Gonmei stated that Zeliangrong people living in the states of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland are happy to see the progress and expediting of the Indo-Naga political negotiations between the Naga Political Groups (NPGs) and Government of India led by a dynamic interlocutor, R N Ravi, who is also the Governor of Nagaland.
It said Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF), a Zeliangrong community based political group (armed organization) has also been taking part in the political negotiation under the banner of Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs).
The Baudi stated that the NPGs and GoI had wrapped up the Indo-Naga political negotiation on October 31, 2019 after breakthrough of the deadlock and to pave the way to ink the final agreement at any possible time.
“We strongly believe that the Government of India and the Naga Political Groups (NPGs) are moving on the final leg to seal the political negotiation by signing the final agreement,” the ZB (AMN) stated.
It further said when this is the reality of the Indo-Naga political negotiation where the Zeliangrong community in particular and the Nagas in general are hoping for lasting political solution, the demand raised by NSCN (IM) and its few frontal civil organizations at this juncture to replace the Interlocutor R N Ravi is unrealistic and makes no sense at all.
“This demand will only procrastinate the signing of the final agreement and we have every reason to suspect that it is another ploy by NSCN(IM) just to impress before the general public that the Government of India can be easily twisted and turned at their convenience,” it stated.
The Baudi further said at this crucial juncture, the Government of India should remain firm without backtracking from the commitment and seriousness to solve the Indo-Naga political issue at the earliest under the dynamic Interlocutor, R N Ravi.
“Any slight mistake or hasty decision taken by the Government of India at this final stage by succumbing to the pressure based on the unrealistic grounds and demand of one Naga Political Group could further delay the signing of final agreement which will only prolong the conflict in the region.
