Zale seeks support from YRS Deptt to implement Govt’s promise for change


Kohima, May 3: Advisor for Youth Resources and Sports, MLA Zale Neikha today called upon the department officers and staff to extend cooperation with NDPP-led PDA government’s motor ‘Deeds not words’ and the promise of change in the State.
Addressing the department during his introductory meeting at the Directorate of YRS in Kohima, Neikha emphasized on action plan rather than paper plan to bring forth development and change in Nagaland. He said work ethics basically on the principles of regularity, punctuality, responsibility and accountability should be enforced.
Committing to work and uplift sports to boost the morale of sportsmen, he said special emphasis for differently abled would be laid by initiating suitable activities. Expressing that Nagas are athletic by nature, the Advisor however lamented that due to the loves for sports Nagas have inclined towards multiple discipline rather than specializing on one.
Therefore, he said that in order to improve the access to professionalism, the government will encourage the youths, particularly the upcoming sportspersons to pursue their career by way of mastering a particular discipline which will be best suited to him or her.
Neikha also informed that during his recent visit to Delhi, officials of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Col R S Rathore in Delhi have assured to take up projects on sports infrastructure to promote games and sports, and program on youth activities.
He therefore called upon the department officials to inculcate the principles of planning, cooperation, accountability and transparency.
“Let us not just sit back and relax on our executive chairs… it is time we change out attitude of red-tapism and delay, but motivate ourselves to shoulder responsibilities and bring about a revolution in the department and in the field of sports as well,” he said.
The Advisor also sought their support and cooperation to achieve the change as the government moves forward to accomplish the challenges for the upliftment of the Department for the welfare of the state and the Naga society.
Commissioner and Secretary (YRS), Anenla S Longchari also exhorted the department officers and staff while representatives from National Service Scheme, NCC, Bharat Scouts & Guide, Music Task Force and Engineering Wing functioning under YRS Department also put forth the problems faced by the respective units.
