YTC questions delay in up-gradation of Shamator ADC Hq to district

Nagaland News

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 29: The Yimkhiung Tribal Council (YTC) has questioned the rationale of the Chief Minister’s commitment in delaying the up-gradation of Shamator ADC to a full-fledged district, as assured prior to the bye-election 2021 of 58 A/C Shamator-Chessore.
In the event of failing to fulfill the aspirations of the Yimkhiungrüs and the Hon’ble Chief Minister’s assurance before December 31, 2021, the YTC and its Frontal Organizations directed all the NDPP party workers including the incumbent MLA 58 A/C to resign en-mass latest by January 5, 2022.
In an “Open Letter to Chief Minister”, the YTC recalled that Chief Minister in the presence of his Cabinet colleagues and Senior Party leaders assured the YTC and all the intending candidates to upgrade Shamator ADC Hq unconditionally to a full-fledged district if NDPP candidate is elected unopposed.
“Therefore, honoring it gentleman’s assurance the YTC in letter and spirit fulfilled the wish of the hon’ble Chief Minister. The Yimkhiung have long desired to live under one district incorporating all Yimkhiung administrative HQs. As assured upon, the Yimkhiungrüs have been impatiently waiting for declaration of Shamator”, the Open Letter signed by YTC president, Throngso Yimkhung, YAA president, Achung Jangleh, YWO president, Shojila Richard and YGBU president, Lakiumong stated.
However, the Open Letter said to the amazement of the Yimkhiungrüs, the Government has been procrastinating citing varied reasons which do not seem to be applicable for creation of other districts except for up-gradation of Shamator District.
Stating that the Yimkhiungrüs feel humiliated, the Open Letter expressed utmost resentment for the betrayal meted towards the tribe.
