
Kohima, December 10: Nagaland Minister for Planning and Coordination Neiba Kronu today stressed on the need to focus on tourism amenities for economic uplift in rural areas.
In his brief address during the inauguration of Youth Recreational Hall at Pfuchama village in Southern Angami region, Kronu said such recreational centres and tourism amenities would help improve the skills of the Naga youths.
Kronu expressed satisfaction over the completion of such a project for the benefit of the community.
He said that it was the interest and initiative of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio that the project was approved under Article 275(i) of the Indian Constitution under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs with the Planning Department as the implementing agency in the State.
Advisor for technical Education and Elections, Medo Yhokha accompanied the minister during the inaugural programme.
The Rs 2 crore project started in 2018-19 and completed this year with Executive Engineer PWD(H) Planning as the executing agency. It has Lhuotsupfe suit, dormitory with attached kitchen, dining and conference hall.
The detailed project report states that the main aim is to give opportunity to the underprivileged youth a chance of hope to reach to main dreams of the society in the field of creativity of recreation based on the customary laws of the Angami Nagas.
It aims to give an opportunity to the youth to explore their talents, promoting cooperation for solving problems of economics, social or humanitarian character.
The space would also be utilized as a midway resort, hostel and a mini stadium to inspire the youth of the village and the state and tourists at large.
