YOUTH conducts training on organic farming


Dimapur, August 13: Young Organic Umbrella Towards Health (YOUTH), a group which aims towards making Nagaland a state producing highest organic products, undertook its first awareness cum training program on organic farming on August 13 at Government Middle School, Vidima village, Chumukedima in collaboration with SPREAD NE, Sonapur, Guwahati.
Altogether there were 22 participants, out of which 14 were students, the headmaster of the school and two teachers, 2 voluntary youths from the village and three trainers.
The activities were conducted based on theoretical as well as practical method of learning which includes introduction about YOUTH, importance of creating school nutrition garden, effects of pesticides usages on children, preserving local seeds and making different shapes of bio-intensive raised beds and bamboo bio char in school campus.
YOUTH Group also focused on to explore more schools, villages and communities to create more awareness about the ill effects of pesticides usages and promoting, preserving and protecting of local and indigenous seeds.
YOUTH is an initiative of three MSW students from NEISSR Dimapur, who had undergone farm training at Sonapur farm learning centre of SPREAD NE (Society for promotion of Rural Economy and Agricultural Development North East), Guwahati. (Page News Service)
