DIMAPUR, JANUARY 17: Tsungkamneo festival of Yimchunger community was celebrated at Town Hall, Tuensang organized on January 16.
Organized by Yimchunger Union Tuensang Town (YUTT), the festival had Kumar Ramnikant, Deputy Commissioner of Tuensang, as special guest, and had in attendance Advisor for I&PR, SCERT and VGs, Toshi Wungtung, and MLA Toyang Changkhong Chang.
The deputy commissioner said Nagaland is a diverse society and perfect example of unity in diversity. He stressed on preserving cultural and traditional values, social bonding and also appreciated the tribal leaders of the district coming together to celebrate the Tsungkamneo festival.
“We must, by any means, not forget the ancient wisdom which our forefathers have given us in the form of folklore which should be passed on to the next generation so that we can live with dignity and identity,” he stated.
IN Chingmak, Executive Chairman of CKS, in his short speech encouraged the tribal leaders to live in peace and harmony.
The programme also had special numbers from Kemifu Cultural Club Tuensang, traditional song by Saramati Sisters and traditional instrumental Tuen by Tsukhiamla. Significance of Tsungkamneo was shared by R Throngji, convenor of Tsungkamneo planning committee.
