DIMAPUR, MARCH 6: Veteran BJP leader, Y Patton was re-elected as the Leader of the BJP Legislature Party today and he would also hold the post of Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland.
This was decided in a meeting with the elected BJP MLAs, the Central Observer and Minister of Assam, Ranjit Kumar and Nagaland in-charge, Nalin Kohli wherein the party unanimously decided to elect Y Patton as the Leader of the BJP Legislature Party.
An All India Radio (AIR) report, quoting Nalin Kohli, stated that State BJP President, Temjen Imna Along proposed the name of Patton and two senior legislators, Jacob Zhimomi and Paiwang Konyak seconded.
Kohli said the BJP Legislature party has written a letter of support for the NDPP, which will be handed over to NDPP leader, Neiphiu Rio to form the next Government in Nagaland. Further, Kohli refuted all speculations of forging alliance with other parties, adding that there is only one alliance in Nagaland which is NDPP-BJP and they fought together with 40 seats for the Globe and 20 seats for the Saffron party, the report stated.
BJP National Spokesperson said people of Nagaland have voted for them for peace and development and the people have the desire to see that the work must continue as the double engine government with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Centre and NDPP leader Neiphiu Rio leading in Nagaland.
