WVC resolves to check drugs menace

Dimapur, October 28: The Wokha Village Council authority has resolved to strictly check drugs menace within Wokha village jurisdiction and Wokha town area for the welfare of the public in general. This was decided in a meeting held on October 23.


The meeting appreciated the initiative taken up by the District administration/law enforcing agency (Police department)/ Lotha Hoho, Lotha Eloe Hoho, Lotha Student’s Union, Lotha Youth Organization and churches and other NGOs etc to stop drug menace.
The house resolved to strictly ban stockage or selling of any contraband drugs by Wokha village members banned by the Government or any legal organization within the village jurisdiction or outside the village area. If any village member is found guilty of such said acts, he/she will be penalized with a fine of Rs 50,000 and an FIR lodged against the culprit at the nearest Police Station. The house also resolved to expel the culprit from the village for a period of 5 years with immediate effect.
The house also resolved to strictly ban the stockage or selling of any contraband drugs by any individuals/ person within the Wokha village demarcated areas of Wokha town, which are banned by the Government or any legal organization, within the village jurisdiction or outside the village area. If any village member is found guilty of such said acts they will be penalized with a fine of Rs 50,000 and an FIR lodged against the culprit at the nearest Police Station. It also resolved to expel the culprit from the village for a period of 5 years with immediate effect.
