WSSU cautions Govt schools from charging admission fees

Nagaland News

Dimapur, February 20: The Western Sümi Students’ Union (WSSU) has appealed to all Government schools within Western Sümi inhabited areas under Dimapur District to strictly comply with the Right to Education Act 2009.
The WSSU issued the appeal after learning that many Government educational institutions such as Government Higher Secondary School, Government High School, Government Middle School and Government Primary School are allegedly charging admission fees from students.
The union warned defaulters of strict necessary action.
However, on circumstantial compulsion, if any monetary transaction from the students has to be made then it should be accompanied with proper receipt memo duly authorized and signed by a competent authority, it said.
The WSSU also directed Government schools, if any, that had charged such “illegal fees” to refund the same immediately.
The union further reminded all of the uniform fee structure of Government schools outside the purview of RTE Act 2009 issued by the Directorate of School Education (DoSE) Kohima Dated 11th June 2020: Class 9 – Rs 1250, Class 10 – Rs 1050, Class 11: Arts – Rs 2050, Commerce – Rs 2050 & Science – Rs 2950 and Class 12: Arts – Rs 1800, Commerce – Rs 1800 & Science – Rs 2700.
