Myki umbrella
Kohima, September 25: Nagaland Women Resource Development department today launched Myki Umbrella (parasol) and face mask for women street vendors.
Launching the initiative, the umbrellas were officially handed over to the local women vendors by Advisor for Women Resource Development, R Khing at a brief function held at High School junction in the presence of department officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Khing said during the COVID-19 pandemic it was the women street vendors who were out to sell the local products. The womenfolk not only look after their family but are also engaged in the field much more than the men, he said, adding that in the present times females are performing much better than male in every field, including education.
In a humble way to encourage our women vendors during this pandemic the Women Resources Development has provided the umbrellas to the Commissioner & Secretary WRD, Anenla T Sato informed that the initiative would also be taken in other districts so as to encourage women to engage in farming and sale of organic vegetables.
