World Mental Health Day observed at Phek

Dimapur, October 11: World Mental Health Day-cum-free medical camp was organised by Phek Police in coordination with Government District Hospital at the office premises of SP Phek on October 10.
The theme Speaker Dr. Temsu Along Pongner, Psychiatric, District Hospital, Phek spoke on reasons of stress and various policies of WHO to manage it, in which he explained the significance of the day and asked the gathering to fight with stigma related issues.
Dr. Temsu also said that out of eight people, one suffers from mental illness and sometimes it is 1:5 ratio. Further, he said that the maximum mental illness found among teenagers is about 46%, where 19% among adults and 13% among children.
Dr. Pritpal Kaur, SP Phek, spoke on mental health Act 2017. She urged everyone to speak up whenever health issues are there and seek medical help. She also motivated everyone to fight stress and temptations with one’s determination and good hobbies.
Kelhouletuo Keyho, Psychiatric Social workers, DMHP depicted all exercises for Stress Management and also gave practical sessions to everyone like breathing, muscle relaxation etc.
SDPO Phek, Tekasosang chaired the program and vote of thanks was proposed by ABI (RHQ) Keviletou Solezou.
Medical camp includes, free testing of blood pressure, blood Sugar, pulse, and other vitals measurements. More than 150 people from various departments attended the programme.
