World Consumer Rights Day observed at Wokha

Dimapur, March 16: Wokha District Legal Services Authority (WDLSA), in collaboration with Department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection, Wokha and Wokha Consumer Rights Organisation, organised the World Consumer Rights Day, with Advocate Thungbeni Kikon, Legal Advisor CRO, as the theme speaker and Panel Lawyer WDLSA Advocate Renbonthung Tsanglao and Advocate Yangrothung Humtsoe as the resource persons.
Resources persons Renbonthung Tsanglao and Yangrothung Humtsoe, spoke on the topic Consumer Rights Protection Act and Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum respectively. Both the resource persons also highlighted the gathering about various rights, laws and Acts which protect the rights of the consumers through Consumer Rights Organisations and how issues and problems of the consumers can be addressed.
Advocate Thungbeni Kikon speaking on the theme “Fair & Responsible AI for Consumers”, dwelled in brief where rights of the consumers can be protected while doing online shopping. She also highlighted on AI (artificial intelligence) where she stated that AI can help detect suspicious transactions, prevent account takeover and ultimately safeguarding the consumers from financial loss.
District & Session Judge, Wokha-cum-Chairperson WDLSA, Nino Iralu also spoke during the occasion and appealed to the people to come forward to seek legal help and advice in case of any complains relating to protection of consumers rights. She also said that the department and the organisation is always there to extend support protecting the rights and welfare of the consumers.
