World AIDS Day observed in Dimapur, Peren & Zunheboto

Dimapur, December 2: The District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU) Dimapur in collaboration with District Level Network, Vihaan CSC & Partner TI NGOs of Dimapur observed the World AIDS Day 2020 at the Chapel Hall, District Hospital Dimapur under the theme ‘Global solidarity, shared responsibility’.


Main speaker of the programme, Dr Hotoka Hesso, Senior Medical Officer (SMO) ART Plus Centre Dimapur, highlighted and focused on HIV prevention and how COVID affects the individual’s immune system. He stated that everyone should be aware of HIV and COVID and not to take both for granted. He also stressed on the importance of taking proper medication, foods and vitamins to boost the immune system of an individual.
Result of the district level NSACS online quiz competition and winners in various categories was also declared by DPO, DAPCU. The NSACS provided a one-time educational assistance to 3 CLHIVs in the district who were felicitated in the programme by Dr Hotoka Hesso who gave away the grant in aid to 3 CLHIVs for educational support for one academic year with a cash amount of Rs 12000 each, which was sponsored by NSACS.
The programme was chaired by Vimezuno, Program Coordinator of Vihaan CSC. Rev. Yhunlo Thong, Chaplain, District Hospital Dimapur invoked the blessings of God for the programme. Rokomeno, Mentor, I-Tech shared on the significance of World AIDS Day and how it is observed globally. Mary Jimo, gave a short speech on behalf of the PLHIV community.
Peren: The District AIDS Control Unit Peren observed World AIDS day in collaboration with ADC Office Jalukie, NPDP +, AHANA, VIHAAN, ITECH on December 1. The program coincided with the statehood day celebration and was held at ADC office Jalukie. The program was attended by Tinu Jongshi, ADC Jalukie and his Staff, leaders from different organization.
The program was chaired by Ngauzeulungbe. Dr Supongmenla DTO/DACO shared on the theme “Global Solidarity, shared responsibility”. She stressed that everyone should cooperate and work together and shared responsibility in fight against the HIV /AIDS. The program also witness the felicitation of CLHIV where 12 CLHIV received support; declaration of result of online quiz competition.
The program concluded with Vote of thanks from Wikambo president NPDP+ Peren.
Zunheboto: DAPCU Chief Medical Officer Office, Zunheboto observed World AIDS Day 2020 on the theme “Global Solidarity Shared Responsibility” on December 1 in the conference hall, District Hospital Zunheboto.
Dr K Akaho Sema, CMO, Zunheboto said HIV is not gone but is with us and today is the day to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS and also to remember to those who have lost their life by HIV/AIDS. He challenged the gathering that it is not only the responsible of the health department but is the responsibility of every section of people. He called upon health workers, RRC members and public leaders to come together to fight against HIV/AIDS with collective effort.
Tovi, Advocate, Member of District Legal Service Authority shared about legal aids to PLHIV.
A quiz competition was held and certificates were handed over to the winners of quiz competition and grant in aids to CLHIV beneficiaries was given.
A one minute silent prayer was held in remembrance of those who have lost their life to HIV/AIDS.
