Workshop on solid waste management held at Wokha


Dimapur, March 4: Observing Swachhta Phakwada 2020, Wokha District administration in collaboration with District Level Centre for Women-Mahila Shakti Kendra under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao organized a workshop on cleanliness and management of solid waste and distribution of sapling in the DC’s conference hall on March 3.
Merithung Lotha, District coordinator, DLCW-MSK chaired the programme and gave the welcome address. Dr Wonchano E. Enny, Women Welfare Officer, DLCW-MSK, enlightened the participants on the services provided by MSK, OSC-Sakhi and Women Helpline 181.
Arhomo Yanthan, EAC (HQ) exhorted the participants on the importance of cleanliness in society and in one’s life. He encouraged the participants to produce less waste for cleaner and healthier tomorrow.
Er. M. Zuchanbemo Tsanglao, JE, PHED, highlighted on types of waste and its management. He spoke on the biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste and its ill effect on health if poorly managed. He also shared on grey and black water management and its benefit to the environment as well as to the society and this can be an income generating activities for SHGs or a group if managed properly. He enlightened the participants on the schemes available for waste management and encouraged them to avail it.
Saplings were later distributed to all the participants to encourage tree plantation for a healthy and happy tomorrow.
