Dimapur, August 22: A workshop on Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign (MRVC) for school principals, headmasters and nodal teachers under Mon Block was held on August 20 at Council Hall, Mon.
SDO (C) Mon, Chumlamo Humtsoe, who is also the chairman for MRVC Mon Block said that being a teacher, the builders of the nations in moulding the student’s academic and imparting knowledge, it is also important to keep the children’s good health. He requested all teachers to be a part of this campaign and no children should left out without being vaccinated. In order to achieve cent percent of M-R vaccination, he requested the teachers to play a vital role for the successful conduct of this campaign.
DEO Mon R. Zayao Lotha stated that majority of the target age group of children are in schools and appealed to all schools authority and teachers to actively participate in this campaign. He also mentioned that all schools should make logistics arrangement like proper rooms and drinking water facilities. He advised the teachers to give proper awareness on the vaccine to the students and to conduct parents-teachers meeting.
MO SHP, Dr.K.Elizabeth explained in detail about Measles and Rubella diseases, their symptoms and important of M-R vaccine to children through power point presentation. Elizabeth also spoke about the role of education department and teachers on active participation like basic planning and awareness to schools children. She also gave in detail on how to give proper information and instruction to both parents and children. She also spoke on how to organise on the day of vaccination and post vaccination.
MO, Dr. Kumkiuba; MO SHP, Dr.Thungdeno Murry; BPM Mon Sadar Pongchai Konyak; SIS, Mon, Hongpe also spoke during the workshop. The programme was chaired by Co-ordinator SHP Mon, Maiwang. Altogether 92 participants from different schools under Mon block attended the workshop.
Noklak: The review meeting of Block Tasks Force on Measles-Rubella Noklak was held on August 19 at ADC Noklak’s residence under the chairmanship of ADC Noklak, Theodore Yanthan.
During the meeting SMO Noklak, Dr. Victor highlighted on the campaigns of Measles and Rubella and the rule and functions of task force members to be implemented. He urged the NGOs, Churches and particularly the IPR & media to spread the message of MR campaigns. He explained that the MR vaccinations campaign is for the children from 9 months to 15yrs and no parents should not be confused but requested them to co-operate for the success of the campaign.
