Workshop for DBs & GBs held at Wokha


Dimapur, July 26: Wokha District Legal Services Authority (WDLSA) and BAR Association in collaboration with District Administration Wokha organized a one day workshop for the Dobashis (DBs) & Gaonburas (GBs) on July 25 at Town Hall, Wokha.
Deputy Commissioner, Dr.Manazir Jeelani Samoon, IAS, while giving the inaugural address said, officers posted from outside the State needs to know about the local customs, practices of the people/tribals of that particular district where the role and importance of DBs comes in apprising the actual scenario to the Officers.
He also added that DBs & GBs appointments comes from the Government and they are also part of the government and their main job is to assist the District Administration for maintenance of Law and Order and adjudication of cases because they knows the local concept, customs and situation is well known to them.
He also urged them to respect their Red Coat as it their uniform, identity and responsibility and asked them not to shy away from their job when it comes to discharging their duties with sincerity so that law and order system, effective justice and effective control of ant situation can be maintained.
He also appealed to the GBs & DBs to inform any cases relating to law and order so that timely response/action can be initiated where by peaceful environment in ant villages or area can be maintained. He also urged the GBs to extend co-operation to the Village Council/functionaries to bring about development and proper supervision and implementation of schemes and project. Lastly he appealed them to respect their job and perform their assigned responsibilities without any bias.
JMFC cum Secretary, WDLSA, Seyielenuo Mezhii, who gave the key note address said, the main objective in organizing this workshop is to sensitize them about their functionaries and urged them to strictly follow the laid down procedure which will be beneficial for the general mass.
Adv, Stephen Yanthan dwelled on the topic Civil Procedure Code in the Administration of Justice, Adv. W Rainbow Ngullie spoke on Criminal procedure with special reference to children and women cases while Adv Oren Humtsoe, President Wokha BAR Association emphasized on court procedure Vis-Vis recording/reporting/judgment orders writing. Short speech was also delivered by President Lotha Eloe Hoho.
The function was chaired by Adv David Ezung while vote of thanks was delivered by Adv Shanchobeni P Lotha.
