DIMAPUR, JULY 1: The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has asserted it will vigorously pursue the issues its Legislature Wing had raised before the Governor ~ on corruption of the PDA Government, headed by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.
A press release from the party informed that this decision was taken during a meeting of its Core Committee and Legislature Wing at Central Office, Kohima, on Thursday.
Also, the party decided that its Legislature Wing will participate in the recently formed Core Committee on Naga Political Issue “provided it confined its role as active facilitator”.
However, the NPF-PAM would continue to exist.
It maintained that as rightly acknowledged by the Government of India, the Naga issue is political, hence it has to be resolved politically by exhibiting political will.
As such, the party stated, it does not endorse the opinion of Minister Temjen Imnna Along that “the settlement of the Naga political issue should be within the Constitution of India”.
The Minister’s statement was “absolutely contrary” to the spirit of the ongoing peace process, it stated, adding that individual opinion should not stand in the way of an honourable solution.
The meeting observed one-minute silence in honour of Toshi Wungtong who passed away on Thursday.
