
Dimapur, June 7: Saramati Warriors defeated Tiyi Strikers by 10 wickets in the first match of the ongoing Women’s Champions Trophy at Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima.
A press release informed that Saramati Warriors chose to field first after winning the toss and restricted Tiyi Strikers to 118. For the Strikers, captain Sentilemla scored 88 but di not find much support from the other end.
Watinaro and Sariba picked up 2 wickets each for the Warriors.
The opening duo of Jyoti Thapa and Vipeni, with scores of 48 and 39 respectively, made batting look easy as they chased down the target of 119 in 19.5 overs without losing any wickets and hence guided Saramati Warriors to the top of the table with 6 points.
Vipeni was adjudged Player of the Match. The second match between Pauna Queens and Terogvu Titans and the third match between Japfü Dazzlers and Puliebadze Slingers were abandoned due to rain.
