Wokha, Zunheboto register wins

4th Late G. Rio Men’s U19 Inter-District Tournament

Dimapur, March 27: Wokha beat Tseminyu by 140 runs and Zunheboto defeated Peren by 5 wickets on Day-2 of the ongoing 4th Late G. Rio Memorial Men’s U19 Inter-District Tournament 2024 played at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium and Sovima Cricket Ground respectively on Wednesday.
At NCA, put in to bat Wokha scored 169 runs, with Liren Jungio (22), Mharen (19) and Renben Kikon (17) being the major run contributors for Wokha. For Tseminyu, Gwakenye Khing took 4 wickets and Achyelo Semp & Sonyelo Kent took 2 wickets each to restrict Wokha to 169 (29.1 overs).
Tseminyu innings was cut short by Meribemo Kikon who fetched an impressive 5 wickets haul and Shahil who took the first hat-trick of the tournament as they bundled Tseminyu for a mere 29 runs in 11.3 overs. For Tseminyu, only Sonyelo Kent (18 n.o.) was able to score a double figure.
Meanwhile at Sovima Cricket Ground, Zunheboto extended their winning streak as they beat Peren by 5 wickets. Peren after having won the toss and elected to bat first but were bowled out for 53 runs (22.5 overs). Anurag with 21 runs was the lone contributor for Peren. For Zunheboto, Rahul and Raja bagged 3 wickets each.
Zunheboto had a shaky start as they lost five quick wickets however an unbeaten 24 from Raja took Zunheboto to a comfortable win in 14 overs.
With this win Zunheboto booked their spot for semi-final.
