Will not allow anyone to obstruct 4-lane works: Village chiefs

Dimapur, May 7: Village council chairmen and Head GBs of all villages touching NH-29 from Purana Bazaar to Chumukedima stretch Tuesday resolved not to allow any obstruction to the Purana Bazar to Chumukedima four-lane construction work by any individual or group for the reason of claiming land compensation or any other related issues.
This was resolved in a consultative meeting with Dimapur district administration held in the wake of the ‘NH-29 Land Owner Union (Purana Bazar to Chumukedima)’ giving 15-days ultimatum to the Government of Nagaland to respond to its demand for land compensation against the ongoing four lane construction or it will take its own course of action.
The ‘NH-29 Land Owner Union (Purana Bazar to Chumukedima)’ in a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur had warned that “its cooperation and success of the (four lane) project now solely depends on the response of the State Government’ to its demand.
The consultative meeting reaffirmed the July 20, 2018 resolution made in the DC’s conference hall where the village authorities along the NH-29 assured full cooperation to the Government for timely completion of the four-lane project.
In reference to the Government Order dated 3/8/1992, July 1993 and 9th February 2000, the present four lane road construction is within the purview of the road reservation (ROW) and hence the question of land compensation does not arise, the meeting was told.
The meeting appealed to the contractor of NH-29 four-lane project (Purana Bazaar to Chumukedima) to strictly adhere to the specifications of the DPR and ensure quality works. It also appealed to the concerned contractor to address the issue of safety in construction of roads/drainages, dust pollution and to speed up construction works for timely completion of the project.
