Dimapur, March 23: Law and order situation in Dimapur appears to be swiftly deteriorating with at least two shooting incidents in the city within a span of 14 hours.
After a trader was shot at by unidentified miscreants Thursday evening at around 4:30 pm at Kuda ‘C’ Khel here, unidentified miscreants shot a widow, Rekha Das at Midland Colony here early Friday morning at around 6 am. She is admitted to Nikos hospital with gunshot injury.
GB Midland Colony Khehuto Zhimomi said the victim, who is a widow, is a resident of the colony and runs a small tea and puri stall in the colony to make a living.
Condemning the incident on behalf of colony residents and colony council, the GB expressed grief that even innocent woman and a widow are not spared from the hands of anti social elements, which are out to destroy the peaceful society. He said the incident has created fear psychosis in the minds of peace loving citizens and urged all section of society to condemn such unlawful and ruthless act. He said perpetrators of such act who don’t hesitate to cause harm to an innocent widow do not deserve to exist in the society.
The colony has also urged the law enforcing agency for proper investigation into the matter and apprehend the culprit/s at the earliest.
Meanwhile as a sign of protest, all the business establishments within the colony downed shutters for the day. (Page News Service)
