Kohima, April 6: Reigning first runner-up of Miss Nagaland, Ruopfuzhano Whiso will be representing the state in the FBBcolour Miss Femina India 2018 scheduled to be held in June at Mumbai.
Beauty and Aesthetics Society of Nagaland (BASN) had reportedly sent five contestants to compete with other contestants from the northeast states at the FBB Colours Femina Miss India East Zone audition organised by Miss India Organisation held at Big Bazaar, City Square, Guwahati, Assam on March 11.
Among others, the 18-year-old Naga damsel, Whiso was selected and crowned as the FBB Colours Femina Miss India Nagaland 2018.
Addressing a press conference at Symphony Café here today, BASN officials informed that Whiso will be further trained and groomed along with other contestants from the East Zone by Indian actress and renowned model, Pooja Chopra who was crowned the Femina Miss India in 2009 and also a semi-finalist to win the Beauty with a Purpose award at Miss World 2009 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
BASN officials also informed that currently Whiso is engaged in various projects promoting tourism and the culture of the state and also Beauty with a purpose project – a routine expected of any beauty queen wherein she is trying to instill the value of dignity of labour among the youth.
Sharing her experience at FBB Colours Femina Miss India East Zone audition, Whiso who has just appeared her HSSLC exam from Little Flower Higher Secondary School, Kohima said the competition has been tough with more experienced participants from other states.
However, she said, the drive to learn new things and to never back down from any adversity has helped her through her journey.
Whiso said that the experiences she gained since the crowning of Miss Nagaland 1st runner-up in 2017 till date has literally changed her life every single day driving her to want to learn and grow more.
When asked if her modelling career would hamper her studies in the future, Whiso expressed of managing both.
She also informed that she will be presenting an Angami traditional song with tati during the talent round at the Femina Miss India 2018.
Former FBBcolours Miss India Nagaland, Kaheli Chophy said that Nagaland still is lagging far behind in modelling career, beside the lack of exposures and lack of support from the people.
Chophy who will be mentoring and grooming Whiso at home said the competition at the national level gets tougher each year with more experienced contestants from other parts of the country who are well groomed and trained and who have the privilege of vast exposures.

BSAN officials informed that despite the lack of support in any form from the state government and the people back home, it has been consistently sponsoring and guiding the talented beauties through various platforms both at home and outside.
This is the second time that the society has sponsored state beauty queens to represent the state at the national level. The officials has appealed all those in the entertainment industry and the general public to extend their help, support and knowledge to Miss Whiso, who has the potential to bring pride and laurels to the state.
