Dimapur, August 31: In order to address the overloaded trucks plying on Dimapur-Kohima road which leads to frequent standing and stoppage of traffic, DC Dimapur, Rajesh Soundararajan has informed that the weighing bridge at ISTT 7th mile Chumukedima, Dimapur will be made operational from September 10. He directed all upbound (Kohima route) goods laden vehicles to undergo weigh test and obtain weight compliance slip with effect from September 10 onwards and only on production of the same they will be allowed to go to Kohima.
Certain categories of vehicle such as tankers, truck ferrying FCI goods, trucks used for Central / State project work, trucks engaged in four lane/National Highway Project, railway works and trucks engaged for local duties within Dimapur will be exempted from obtaining the weight compliance slip.
The DC notified that overloading will not be allowed and the vehicle load carrying capacity will be as per the registered payload/GWV mentioned in the vehicle registration certificate and it shall be strictly followed and shall be the responsibility of the concerned vehicle owners to remove the access load and transport the same out of ISTT and no good shall be left in the ISTT premises.
The DC cautioned that overloading by any goods vehicle will be liable to attract punitive action under the relevance section of the MV Act.
