Week long plastic collection drive in Mkg

Dimapur, September 22: ADC & Administrator, Mokokchung Municipal council (MMC), W. Manpai Phom has informed that as part of observance of Swachhata Hi Seva- Cleanliness is Service 2019, Mokokchung Municipal council (MMC) will be carrying out a week long plastic waste collection drive in all the 18 wards of Mokokchung.
Schedule of the Plastic Waste collection is as follows: – Sungkumen, Tongdentsuyong and Alongmen wards on September 23 (Monday); Alempang, Dilong and Salangtem wards on September 24 (Tuesday); Aongza, Kichutip and Yimyu wards on September 25 (Wednesday); Kumlong, Mongsenbai and Marepkong wards on September 26 (Thursday); Penli, Sangtemla and Arkong wards on September 27 (Friday); Majakong, Lijabalijen and Artang wards on September 28 (Saturday).
The collection of plastic waste in all the wards will be carried out from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.

ANPSA Kohima new team
Kohima, September 22: The All Nagaland Private Schools Association (ANPSA) Kohima unit had installed a new team of office bearers for the tenure 2019-2022 with president – Zhopota Rhakho; vice president – Father C Jaison, general secretary –
Kaikhu Achumi, joint secretary – Kepelhouto Nakhro, treasurer – Rokono Seleyi, information & publicity secretary – Annie Konthoujam and advisor – Pheluopfhelie Kesiezie (Advisor).
Meanwhile as part of ANPSA Kohima unit annual events, the association is set to organize quiz competition on September 28 at St. Mary’s Cathedral Higher Secondary School, Lerie Colony, Kohima, with Shanavas C. IAS, Principal Director of School Education as guest of honour.

Awareness campaign on RPwD on Sept 27

Dimapur, September 22: DC Dimapur, Kevekha Kevin Zehol has informed that a sensitization and awareness campaign on Rights of Persons With Disabilities (RPwD) Act 2016 for state government officials will be held at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner on September 27 at 12 noon. Secretary to the Government of Nagaland and Team Leader, K. Libanthung Lotha will address the gathering.
All the district Head of Departments along with Nodal Officers have been requested to attend the meeting.

Wokha DTCC quarterly meet held

Dimapur, September 22: The quarterly meeting of various committee members of District Tobacco Control Cell, District Level Coordination Committee, District Level Enforcement Squad & Flying Squad was held on September 19 at the District Hospital conference hall, Wokha.
In the meeting, Medical Superintendent (MS), Dr Motsuo Memorial District Hospital, Wokha, Dr Tumcobeni Kikon, on behalf of the District Tobacco Control Cell, National Tobacco Control Programme, presented certificates to the already declared tobacco free establishments namely Axis Bank Wokha, Smile Dental Clinic, Deputy Commissioner Office and Dr. Motsuo Memorial District Hospital, Wokha.
The Medical Superintendent while enlightening on Tobacco-Free Area Policy stated a tobacco-free environment helps create a safe and healthy environment. Smoking and second hand smoke are known to cause serious lung diseases, heart diseases and cancer, he said. The policy covers the smoking of any tobacco product and the use of all oral tobacco products including “spit” tobacco and “E-cigarettes”.
District Nodal Officer, NTCP, Dr Meribeni Odyuo said enforcement alone cannot work unless ill effect of tobacco use and selling of tobacco products are sensitized to the general public. She requested the District administration and school education department Wokha to issue notification for banning of smoking at police stations and public transports areas and prohibition of sale of tobacco products near educational institutions and installation of tobacco warning signage.
