Dimapur, June 26: Wokha District Legal Services Authority conducted a conclave for rural women of Pongidong village, Wokha on June 25 on legal rights & privileges and welfare schemes.
Renbonthung Tsanglao, Panel Lawyer, speaking on NALSA (Effective implementation of poverty alleviation) Schemes 2015 highlighted on various welfare schemes of State and Central governments available to women. Shanchobeni P Lotha, Advocate & Project Assistant presented legal rights and privileges in particular that can be availed under the protection from Domestic Violence Act 2005.
A vocational training was also conducted as a way out in line with poverty alleviation schemes for the 90 beneficiaries.
Para Legal Volunteers Daisy Tungoe & Athungbeni trained the women on how to make paper bags, gift bags, etc.
Legal Aid Desk was set up and PLV Meribemo Patton explained and distributed local dialect legal pamphlets and samples paper bags.
