WDCCI annual business review meet held

Nagaland News

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 20: The Wokha District Chamber of Commerce & Industry (WDCCI) has asked Wokha Town Council (WTC) to review the “exuberant” amount levied upon business community on trade permit and annual renewal fee.

This was one of the resolutions adopted during WDCCI’s annual business review meeting held on Monday.
It stated that the renewal fee must be considerably lower than the trade permit fee and only a nominal amount should be charged. Non-compliance with the demand of the business community will result in refusal to renew trade permits by all traders, it warned.
“WTC should immediately stop the practice of collecting toll tax on GST billed consignments goods; WTC should not issue temporary trade permit to any traders unless there is adequate slots available in town council complex. Once a trade permit is obtained for a specific outlet that same permit holder shall not be liable to pay other additional charges to the town council for incoming goods.
“If any business establishment is found manipulating GST Bill, the Chamber will take serious action against the defaulter. For any inter-state/intra-district movement of goods entering the Wokha district market, it is mandatory to notify the office of WDCCI by the supplier”, it added.
The Chamber also warned that it will be compelled to shut down without any prior notice those outlets where non-indigenous inhabitants are conducting business activities within the market under the guise/name of any bona fide indigenous inhabitants without obtaining WDCCI registration.
Any company found to be endorsing a particular product/brand to a second party without arriving at the final settlement with the first party, will be penalized and that product/brand will be banned from the market, it warned, adding that if any party approaches the defaulting company for distributorship of the same branded product, the WDCCI will take a strict course of action against the party.
“To provide a uniform opportunity to all traders, the business community collectively decided to allot distributorship of only three brands per proprietor subject to adhering to company standard Rates by the authorized distributor. If any district distributor of a particular product/brand is found extending its operation to any market that is beyond his/her designated jurisdiction, despite there being a distributor for the same already operating in that market, the Chamber will consider such business activity as unethical and shall be penalized.

“It was unanimously decided that no buildings along the highway/roadside and market hub shall be occupied for godown and so kept shut. If any business owner defies this decision, the Chamber will take necessary action. All WDCCI Regd. business owners need to obtain a business ID card at a nominal rate from the office of WDCCI”, it added.
