Dimapur, March 17: The Western Chakhesang Hoho held its general session 2019 at WCH conference hall, Chakhesang Colony Dimapur on March 9. It was attended by VCCs, GBs, leaders & representatives from 16 unit/villages under WCH and frontal organizations of WCH. Kevekha Kevin Zehol, Deputy Commissioner was the guest speaker.
Dietho Rhakho, President WCH called upon the community to maintain good relationship and peaceful coexistence among Chakhesangs in particular and the great Naga family in general. He also appealed to the community to extend full co-operation to administration and police departments. He also appealed to the Deputy Commissioner Dimapur who is also chairman of the Dimapur District Sports Council to erect a photo of Late Goyiepra Kenye at DDSC (along with the other recognized & honoured personalities) in recognition of his contribution to Nagas by leading the Kohima Sardar students movement resulting in keeping Dimapur under Naga area when Dimapur was put under Sibsaghar District, Assam in the year 1949 under British rule.
Kevekha Kevin Zehol, DC Dimapur, in his speech lamented that the good Naga culture is fading away. He said it was disheartening to see the majority of population in the villages & towns who have enough land to cultivate are now becoming more dependent on rice supply and subsidy schemes given by Government.
“Young people are coming to interviews seeking job on the strength of VIP recommendations instead of attending well prepared. All these wrong cultures are negating our society and therefore a new mindset need to be recreated,” he said and appealed to the community members to rejuvenate honesty, bravery and hard work culture which has always being our identity.
The guest speaker also donated Rs 50,000 towards the hoho. (Page News Service)
