Nagaland: Ward-16 in Kohima to go for total lockdown from May 27 to 31

Kohima, May 26: Ward-16 in Kohima, comprising New Minister’s Hill (NMH) Colony, Lerie Colony, Lerie Chazou Colony, and New Reserve Colony, has decided to implement total lockdown in the ward’s jurisdiction from May 27 to 31, informed Lima Imsong, Secretary of New Minister’s Hill.

With the increase in the number of COVID cases and non-compliance with the rules and regulations by the public, the Panchayat representatives have decided to go ahead with the total lockdown starting from May 27 to 31.

In this lockdown, no individual or group will be allowed to move around in the colony without prior permission except on official duty, Imsong informed.

Speaking on behalf of NMH Panchayat, Imsong said that the colony has seen an increase in the number of COVID cases with a total of 87 positive cases, out of which 11 have recovered and 13 have been moved to COVID Care Centre.

He also said that with the surge in the number of COVID cases, the colonies under Ward-16 have been left with no other option but to implement a total lockdown because the public does not adhere to the modified lockdown-like restrictions.

Therefore, the last option is to totally restrict the movement of the public and shutting down all the shops, he added.

In this regard, the respective colonies have already notified their members about the lockdown in advance and have further made arrangements for the public to buy rations on May 26, it was informed.
