VWF Dimapur felicitates HSLC & HSSLC toppers

Dimapur, June 10: Vivekananda Welfare Foundation, Dimapur today felicitated the toppers of HSLC and HSSLC examinations 2018 through a formal program held here at the premise of S.D. Jain Girls’ College, Dimapur.
The program had Father CP Anto, founder director of the North East Institute of Social Science and Research as the chief guest besides representatives from different communities living in the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Father Anto said that the event could be seen as one of the rarest in the state because of it being inclusive of diverse faiths and asked the attendants to make Dimapur and Nagaland a model city and state respectively for the rest of the country when it comes to religious harmony.
He asked people to be human first before becoming a man of religion and that there is a need for people to remove labels from their forehead of micro identity for the cause of moving towards a macro identity which was one of the calls of Swami Vivekananda.
Talking about the life of Swami Vivekananda, he said that he was personally much influenced by the life and philosophies of the saint and his teaching about a monotheistic God in the name of whom the world is fighting and added that only if there were more people like him, the India today would be a different one.
Addressing the students, he said that they are living in a very right time of technological advancement, but also it is an unpredictable time as digitization is going to control every aspect of life and added that in the 21st century, illiterates are those who refuse to change and adapt and not those who cannot read or write.
He also asked the parents to make the children comfortable in what career choices they want to make instead of thrusting their own desires.
Previously, giving a brief history of the foundation, Dr. Dalia Bhattacharjee, chief patron of VWF said that the objective of the foundation is to implement the mission of Swami Vivekananda and touch the lives of people and empower them. She also cited various fields in which the foundation is working like healthcare, education.
KP Avikasit, former associate professor of department of English at higher education and advocate YP Gupta were the others who also spoke during the event. Besides, there were also a number of cultural performances put up by students and members of the foundation.
Founded in the year 2015, VWF is headed by president Niranjan Saha and it is actively involved in blood donation camps, providing reliefs to disaster hit populace, organizing health checkups etc. besides many other activities
The felicitated students received certificates and mementos from the foundation and the top rank holders received additional Rs 5000 each. The organizers further announced that this would be an annual event from now onwards.
