Dimapur, June 25: A three-day Diocesan vocation camp was held from June 24 to 26 at St. Peter’s Church, Kiphire. The camp was organized for the students of Class 7 to 12 comprising both boys and girls. 97 selected students from Shamator, Sitimi, Meluri, Pungro, Phvkhiu and Kiphire attended the camp.
Rev. Fr. Ntonse John, the Parish Priest of St. Peter’s Parish, Kiphire, welcomed the young campers, while Rev. Fr. Renthungo Victor, Vocation Promoter, Diocese of Kohima, set the tone to the programme. He said vocation is a personal call from God (Is. 43:1, Gal. 1:15, Eph. 1.4).
Rev. Fr. Lawrence Khing, Director Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement, addressed the campers on the theme ‘Vocation the Gift of God’s Love’. He elaborated the love of God in each person’s life. He encouraged the gathering to be more realistic in making decisions in life.
Rev. Fr. George Vekupa, Assistant Priest, St. Peter’s Church, Kiphire spoke on the theme ‘Vocation and Holy Eucharist’. He added that Christian life is centered on the Eucharist and it is the source and summit.
Rev. Fr. Leo Chase, Assistant Priest, St. Francis of Assisi Chruch, Shamatore presented a session on the topic ‘Vocation and Culture’. He highlighted on the importance of being one with the people and culture.
