Visitors to Hornbill Festival crosses 2 lakh mark


Kohima, December 9: The penultimate day of festivities at the picturesque Naga Heritage Village in Kisama saw a whopping 69,854 visitors to witness the cultural performances and also enjoy other activities throughout the day.
According to up to date number of visitors provided by Assistant Director (Statistics) of Tourism Department, T Khakihe Sumi, the total visitors today included 59,938 local visitors, 9734 domestic tourist and 182 foreigners.
With the whopping huge turn out on a single day today, the total visitors so far at Kisama has increased to 2,39,573 which include 2,01,277 locals, 35,730 domestic tourists and 2556 foreigners.
The seventh day of the festival witnessed lowest turnout at 10,266 visitors comprising of 198 foreign, 1935 domestic and 8133 local visitors.
Meanwhile, Italian Consul General, Kolkata, Damiano Francovigh will grace the valedictory function of the 10-day long festival as the guest of honour at 3:30 pm on Monday.
The Consul General along with Femina Miss India World 2014 Koyal Rana, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Advisor for Tourism and Art & Culture, H Khehovi Yepthomi will light the bonfire marking the culmination of the festival of festivals of Nagaland. (Page News Service)
