Visasolie, M Chuba assume offices


Dimapur, March 28: Accompanied by State BJP officials, the newly appointed Chairman of Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA), Visasolie Lhoungu, State BJP President and Chairman of Nagaland State Cooperative Marketing and Consumers’ Federation (MARCOFED), Dr. M. Chuba, Core Committee Member, took over their new assignments in their respective offices on March 26 and 28. the BJP is enthused with their new assignments and hope that they would usher in an era of innovative initiatives to improve upon the existing infrastructure and programmes of the departments and further develop the respective sectors to address several severe issues facing the state such as job creation for the educated and uneducated unemployed, income generation, poverty alleviation, equal opportunities to all on merit basis, etc.
With the party in its fourth innings in the State Government as an alliance partner since 2003, the party looked forward to the positive changes that lie ahead for the state under the able leaderships of the new government.
The Chairmen of the Bamboo Mission and MARCOFED, addressing the department officials and party officials, exuded confidence to usher in positive development changes and assured to strive hard towards realizing these goals for the people.
They expressed that with the support of the party and the efficiency of the department, nothing is impossible and can be achieved with the right vision, motivation and ceaseless efforts along with the cooperation of the people.
As briefed by the Team Leader NBDA, Peter Lichamo, Nagaland has the highest varieties of Bamboo which are not commercially utilized optimally. Sustenance and proper utilization of the resources would address myriad of economic issues.
The Managing Director of MARCOFED, T Vituko Zhimo, highlighted that MARCOFED was set up in 1968 but effectively commenced functioning in 1969 only. He said that there was a lull for a decade till 2008 which subsequently improved. MARCOFED offers wide scope in broadening the economic avenues from production to marketing of varieties of local produce.
The State BJP thanked Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio and congratulated the new incumbents with the best wishes for a successful tenure. (Page News Service)
