Dimapur, October 18: Nagaland defeated Manipur by an inning and 251 runs at the Vijay Merchant Trophy 2019-20 played at Sovima here.
Continuing with its overnight score of 278/5, the State boys added a quick fire 162 runs before being bowled out for 440 in 89.3 overs, thereby taking a huge first inning lead of 357 runs.
Playing for Nagaland, Yugandhar who remained unbeaten on 104 at close of play on Day-1, took apart the Manipur bowlers while racing to his double ton before finally losing his wicket after scoring 241 runs.
Needing to make more than 357 runs to make Nagaland bat again, Manipur wickets crumbled one after the other like in the first inning to be bowled out for 106 in 62.4 overs, with only Kadamjit showing some resistance with a gritty 30.
For Nagaland, Khrievitso Kense, who took 5 Manipur wickets in the first inning, took 6 wickets in the second innings.
This is the second consecutive match the State boys have won by an inning to spare. In the last match, Nagaland had defeated Arunachal by an innings and 321 runs.
