Venuzo Dawhuo defends Chakhesang Wrestling champion title


Chakhesang Wrestling Association Champion Venuzo Dawhuo (Arms raised) flankled by other winners and CWA officials on Tuesday at Phek Town.

Phek, February 18: Reigning champion Venuzo Dawhuo today defended the title of Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA).
The 24 year old Dawhuo s/o Nezohu Dawhuo from Thenyizumi village standing at 5.10 feet and weighing 97 kg defeating former champion Vevohu Swuro in the final bout to lift the coveted 27th CWA wrestling tournament held at Phek Town. The tournament is being hosted by Phek Area Wrestling Association.
He is also the reigning champion of Chokri Area Wrestling Association (CAWA) Meet 2020.
On winning the title, Venuzo Dawhuo bagged Rs 1.50 lakh along with citations. While runners-up Vevohu Swuro s/o Lt. Husazo Swuro, 29 year old also from Thenyizumi village standing at 6.1 feet and weighing 110 kg representing CAWA received Rs 1 Lakh and citations.
Another CAWA wrestlers Pfüsato Tetseo hailing from K Bawe village won the third position to pocket Rs 80,000 and citations while Vekutho Soho from Phek village representing Phek Area Wrestling Association (PAWA) and defending champion of Hornbill International Wrestling Meet 2019 was placed fourth for Rs 50,000.
The losing quarter-finalist Reka Mero (KKWA), Besuhveto Cümu (CAWA), Vechita Khesoh (CRWA), Hukhonieyi Chuzho (CAWA) were awarded with Rs 8,000 each.
Meanwhile, the Championship for Under-16 (Junior Category) will be held tomorrow.
