Vegetable vendors maintain ‘social distancing’ in Dimapur

social distancingDimapur, March 31: Faced with the problems of large gatherings at the market places, the district administration and police today enforced “social distancing” amongst the vegetable vendors by placing them at considerable distances from Holy Cross Point to Tata Parking area on one side of the road. The traffic on that road was totally restricted for all kinds of vehicles.
As the market for essential commodities opened today, all the vegetable vendors were asked to sit at a distance of at least 10 feet from each other while customers also were asked to maintain a distance while purchasing items. A large number of police personnel were deployed in the market area to maintain discipline amongst the vendors as well as amongst the customers.
The Dimapur police also erected “No Entry” signs at various places of the town totally restricting movement of vehicles on Nyamo Lotha Road, GS Road, MP Road. Vehicles were allowed to ply on the outer periphery of the town.
People were seen walking to New Market area and at Nyamo Lotha Road to buy essential commodities and medicines. (Page News Service)
