Use of plastic bags restricted in Zbto

Dimapur, May 23: A meeting of the district task force was held in the office chamber of the Deputy Commissioner’s office Zunheboto on May 20 under the chairmanship of Shanavas C, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto. He briefed the members about restrictions on the use of plastics in Zunheboto town.
After thorough discussion, the members agreed on segregation of waste (dry and wet) to be done in every household and separate waste bins for dry and wet waste will be provided in every household in Zunheboto.
Awareness and sensitization on waste segregation, limiting use of plastics and payment of certain amount as sanitation fee by the public, to be undertaken by Sumi Baptist Church Zunheboto, Zunheboto Town Sumi Baptist Church, Zunheboto Town Sumi Totimi Hoho, Zunheboto Range Students Union, schools and ward councils; ward task force to be set up in every ward and colony wise scrap dealers to be employed for waste segregation; plastic bags over 50 microns and above to be banned and tax on plastic bags to be introduced; ban on small PET bottles to be banned once a bottling unit is set up and for which a suitable place for construction of bottling unit is to be explored; Sanitation fee of Rs 50 to be collected from every household, where Rs 45 will be utilized by Zunheboto town council and Rs 5 by ward council.
