Dimapur, January 30: The inauguration of the District Hospital upgradation programme was held at Phek on Wednesday with the Minister for Health & Family Welfare Pangnyu Phom as special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said Phek civil hospital was established with creation of separate District hospital with the capacity of 75 bedded, however in view of aging building and lack of proper infrastructure, the hospital could not function effectively, causing undue hardship to needy people.
He said that the health system in the state has been steadily progressing to a large extend in the recent past especially with the interventions under the National Health Mission. However, the health infrastructure gap is still huge and the limited state resources, it will be difficult to achieve the National goals unless available resources are utilize effectively and efficiently and this can be done through consorted of the people. He called upon all to avail the services from various institutions and also urged all section of the society and civil organization to recommit themselves towards the communitization policy of the state Government for strengthening of public institution and services through active participation to promote accountability transparency and people services. The Minister also unveiled inaugural plaque.
The programme was chaired by Dr. Vikeyie Losu, Principal Director, Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Nagaland. Welcome address was pronounced by Principal Secretary, Health and Family welfare. Dr. K. Hosi also spoke on behalf of Phek citizen.
