Dimapur, April 9: The NSS/RRC cell of Unity College Dimapur organized a programme to commemorate World Health Day, on the theme “Building a Fairer, Healthier World”.
A press release from the college on Thursday stated that in her introductory note, Thungbeni Humtsoe, Assistant Professor of History, stressed on the main objective of the programme, which was to meet today’s challenges with regard to awareness, preventive measures and sensitize the younger generation who are more vulnerable to HIV/AIDS.
The resource person Orenthung Ngullie, Supervisor of District AIDS prevention Control Unit (DAPCU), spoke on HIV/AIDS as a major issue affecting the global population. Explaining the causes and symptoms of the virus, he stressed on adequate preventive measures to be followed and taken.
He also presented a district-wise data of detected cases. He expressed the importance for younger generation to have proper knowledge about HIV/AIDS.
