Unity College fresher’s social held

Dimapur, June 25: Unity College observed its 13th Freshers social cum Annual Day on June 22 in the college premises. The event started with a tree plantation by the chief guest, Prof. Pardeshi Lal, Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University.
In his address, Prof. Pardeshi La encouraged the students to focus on the values of life rather than marks alone. He mentioned about SWAYAM which is a programme initiated by the Government of India and designed to achieve the three cardinal principles of education policy – access, equity and quality and MOOCs which is a free online courses available for anyone to enroll. He urged the students to register for these courses and acquire skills that meet your need. He told the students to equip themselves with skills and education beyond the classroom.
The 12th edition of the college magazine “Nurture” was also released during the programme. Meritorious students in the recently declared Nagaland University Examination were felicitated along with Grace I Namgi who was declared the Student of the Year 2019 and Certificate of Excellence was given to Assistant Prof. Dr. Vivolhuno Punyu from the Department of History.
The formal session was followed by the entertainment session where the audience was enthralled with songs, dances and ramp walk by the Mr. & Ms. Freshers participants. Talikaba Longkumer and Atele Mero were crowned the Mr. Fresher and Ms. Fresher 2019 respectively.
