Unbroken bondage

Mountains loom high,
Mead and vales,
Lush forest beneath.
A single brook gurgles happily,
Thru’ the fragrance-filled orchards.
Songs of birds fill the air,
Little animals in the woods.
A pleasant land,
One may s’pose.
Yet gloom clings to the air.
Mist filled with sorrow,
A nation in chains,
Enslaved till death …
Time fades into nothingness,
Like dust in the wind.
A bondage waiting to be broken
Or will it remain unbroken?
