ULB Poll: Phyobemo Odyuo to focus on healthcare & infrastructure

Nagaland News

Dimapur, June 15: A declaration-cum-dedicatory programme for Phyobemo Odyuo, NDPP candidate for the seat of Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) from Ward 11, was held on Saturday at Duncan Council Hall.
In his brief address, the candidate remarked on the cosmopolitan character of Duncan Bosti’s residents and how they have been living together in harmony for so many years. He assured to work for a “brighter and prosperous future”.
Citing healthcare and infrastructure as some of his key areas of focus, Odyuo requested the local residents to work together with him to “transform our ward”.
NDPP Legislator and Advisor to Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan, special guest of the occasion, expressed hope that the resumption of ULB elections in the State after 20 years will open doors for Nagaland’s urban centres’ march towards development.
He recalled that “our indecision” over the years, on the matter of ULB elections with 33% seat reservation for women, has cost the State and its urban centres a lot in terms of development.
This, he said, has changed now that Nagaland Government has passed the amended Municipal Act.
“We see a bright future now”, he said, adding that the party’s candidate for Ward 11 of DMC was capable of delivering that future to the residents.
A senior member of the locality urged the candidate as well as the assembled residents not to resort to violence during the election.
A plethora of political leaders in district and constituency levels, as well as colony members and leaders spoke on the occasion.
