U-23 Cricket: Mkg, Tuensang in semi-finals


Dimapur, April 16: In the last league matches of the Group. B today in the ongoing U-23 Inter dist Cricket tournament at NCA Stadium here, Mokokchung defeated Kohima by 80 runs and Tuengsang beat Wokha by 81 runs to qualify for the semi-finals tomorrow.
In the first match, put into bat, Mokokchung managed to score 128 for the loss of 7 wickets in 25 overs with Anoksangba scoring the highest 45 runs, followed by Aloto 27 and Longkitzuong 24 runs.
For Kohima, Monoj Choudhury took 5 wickets.
Chasing a modest total of 129 to win, Kohima were bundled out at 48 in 11.4 overs.
Monoj scored 16 while Kevibozo contributed 7 runs for his team.
For Mokokchung Ambesh took 4 wickets, Abishek 2, Merenkaba 2 and Vijay Rai 2 wickets.
In the second match between Tuensang and Wokha, the toss was won by Wokha, who put Tuensang to bat.
Batting first Tuensang put up a massive total of 201 for the loss of 7 wickets in 25 overs with the highest contribution of 90 runs from Rishab. Aditya, Pathung and Royimkiu contributed 29, 18 and 15 runs respectively.
For Wokha, Thechamo, Nuchumbemo Kikon and Harsh claimed 2 wickets each.
In reply to Tuensang’s 201, Wokha were all out at 120 in 22 overs. Harsh contributed 40 runs, while Nchumbemo made 35.
For Tuensang, Bijoy claimed 4 wickets while Abu Salem took away 3 wickets.
Semi finals on 17th April.
