TSUK freshers meet held in Kohima

Kohima, August 26: The 23rd Freshers’ Social of the Thenyizumi Students’ Union Kohima under the theme ‘strategizing for success’ was held at Conclave Conference Hall, LCS Building Kohima on Saturday.
Vekutulu Theyo, associate professor SCERT the guest speaker while speaking on the occasion asked the students to have a specific goal and plans in order to pursue their career. “Having a strategy is a plan of action chosen to bring about a desired future,” said the professor.
Reminding the students that government jobs are saturated, she asked the students to change the mentality and look for other avenues. Stating that God has given enough potential to every individual to succeed, she asked the students to make a career choice.
“If you don’t have aim in life, how can you succeed in life? Studying in college is not a plan it is a process’ she reminded.
“Now is the right time to think about your career. And not after you finish your degree… Starts exploring your options which may bring interest, its okay to ask help and seek counselling, she emphasized.
While cited some of the career options which the students can pursue in different fields.
Theyo also asked the students to have a master plan for academic, studying goal and organised a study space. “Manage your time effectively, and prioritise your work, believe in yourself and don’t waste your time,” said the professor.
In her concluding remark she quoted the bible verse “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you,” Mathew 6:33
Vesetalu Swuro, Chairperson Thenyizumi Women Society exhorted the students and the fresher’s to excel in their career through hard work and effort. She said the students are the bank account where the parents are investing in it and hoped that one day they l excel in their career and take care of them in the future.
While acknowledging the students, she reminded them not to forget their roots where they are from and to seek God for the proverb says “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge”
New office members were elected during the program with Khrunuto Kezo as the president. Vice president Aveto Resu, General secretary Khrunutalu Swuro for the tenure of 2018-19.
