Tsentsüthung of Mezhür HSS wins World Art Day painting competition

Kohima, April 13: Tsentsüthung of Mezhür Higher Secondary School, Kohima today emerged winner of the painting competition as part of the two-day Art Festival in commemoration of World Art Day.
The event was organized by Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA) in collaboration with Visual Artists of Nagaland at Old NST, Main Town here since Tuesday. The painting competition was open for students of class 10 and below.
Tsentsüthung is a class 10 student of Mezhür HSS while Kegwayhun Khing, a class 2 student of Grace HSS bagged the second position and Katimenla, class 6 student of Bethel HSS was placed third.
Speaking on the occasion, Advisor for TaFMA Theja Meru said that artists are the catalysts for a colourful and hopeful Nagaland. He encouraged them to be proud of their works and continue to paint the state with colours of hope.
Stating that artists have no boundaries and stoppage, he said during the covid lockdown TaFMA was able to sell art works worth Rs 3-4 lakh.
Meru also assured of all possible support to the senior artists and also platforms for the budding artists of the State.
Meru also handed over cash prizes and citations to the winners and participants of the painting competition for school students and art exhibitions by senior artists.
World Art Day which falls on April 15 is the birthday of the notable painter, artists, philosopher, scientists and sculptor Leonardo da Vinci. However, with the day falling on Good Friday, the organsiers preponed the celebration.
