Dimapur, February 11: The Registrar, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Tribunal, Dimapur has issued a show-cause notice under section 4(2) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act to the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-K) to appear before the Tribunal on March 26 at 10.30 a.m.
Registrar, Y Longkumer stated that the Central Government has constituted Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Tribujal comprising Justice Kalyan Rai Surana, Judge, Gauhati High Court, for adjudicating whether or not there is sufficient cause for declaring the NSCN (K) as Unlawful Association as referred by Section-(1) of Section 4 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967.
It may be mentioned that on September 28, 2020, the Central Government under Section 3(1) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act had declared the NSCN (K) of Nagaland, Manpur and Arunachal Pradesh as Unlawful Association.
The Registrar called upon the NSCN (K) to show cause in writing within 30 days from the date of service of the notice as to why “your association should not be declared as unlawful and why order should not be made confirming the declaration made in the notification.
The Registrar stated that the objection/reply/written statement if any may be filed/delivered within the statutory period of 30 days from the service, to the Registrar at her office chamber of the Principal District & Sessions Judge, Dimapur.
Further, the venue for the hearing will be intimated later.
