Training on water quality monitoring & surveillance conducted

Dimapur, January 30: The Public Health Engineering department (PHED) conducted training on ” Water Quality Monitoring & Surveillance ” for Village/Habitations falling under urban division, Kohima was organized today by PHED ( Urban) Kohima at the conference Hall of Kohima Urban Division.
Resource person, Dzesetsino Kiso Chemist ( PHED ) stressed that water testing has seven different parameters that has to be check to declare water as safe for drinking purpose i,e odour, colour, turbidity and taste which can be physically detected and other three parameters i,e Ph value, chemical contamination and bacteriological test can be done only in the laboratory for which the PHE Department has set up in every district head quarter where public can avail the facilities to test their own source of water.
While, the PHE Department Urban division Kohima has issued 10 number of FTK (Field Testing Kits) to the villagers to test their own water source periodically after the training is complete.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by SDO PHED Er. Theyiesetuo, invocation by Khetoto Sema (DAO) PHED Urban Kohima, whereas PHED Urban Kohima Executive Engineer Er P.Khetoi Awomi delivered the key note address and the vote of thanks was pronounced by Thepfulie, Sanitation & Hygiene Consultant WSSO, PHED.
