Dimapur, February 21: The Officers’ Club Pfutsero in collaboration with SDPO Pfutsero and HRF Pfutsero organized 2-day farmers training programme on horticulture crops on February 13-14. The training was conducted under MIDH 2019-20 programme of the Horticulture Department.
ADC Pfutsero, Phuleshe K. Yepthomi said the programme was conducted with an aim to train the wives of police personnel in horticulture crops cultivation to increase their family income. He exhorted the participants to become self sufficient in their daily domestic requirements.
Dr Rinku, Chief Technical Officer, KVK Porba spoke on various cultivation technique of vegetables like onion, cabbage, tomato and Naga chillies and fruits like kiwi, persimmon and strawberry.
Dr Imtionen, SDAO spoke on the uses of bio fertilizers and bio agents. He also demonstrated on the use of trigo cards and trichoderma. He said that these bio materials were readily available at Medziphema.
Senti Longchar, Horticulture Officer, HRF gave demonstration on the cultivation techniques of oyster mushroom and its health benefits.
About 100 trainees attended the programme. Free seeds were distributed along with trichoderma species to the participants contributed by SDAO, Pfutsero.
