Training on gender for social action committee held


Dimapur, March 25: A 3 days training of trainers (ToT) on gender for social action committee and gender forum which are institutional mechanisms to implement interventions on gender and FNHW works in rural areas was held at RD conference hall, Directorate of Rural Development from March 20 to 22.
Nagaland is one of the pilot states in India under DAY-NRLM on gender intervention and so far staff at all levels of the mission management units as well as community persons from select piloting blocks have been sensitized and trained on gender.
The objective of the ToT was to equip staff and community cadres with knowledge on gender and FNHW for intensified interventions. Block staff and community persons from the 9 resource blocks of the NSRLM were trained on gender concepts; rights and entitlements; available schemes and services; preparation of vulnerability reduction plans; legal provisions and implementation mechanisms; roles and responsibilities of social action committees; role of gender point persons and block capacity building plans. Gender and FNHW will be piloted across 17 village level organizations (VLO) in 9 NSRLM resource blocks under 9 districts with capacity building plans and need-based interventions during FY 2019-20.
Resource persons were Aasha Ramesh, national resource person on gender, NMMU, MoRD co-facilitated by Khriezovonuo Lhoungu Doulo, state program manager, SMMU, NSRLM and block level trainers who recently underwent a ToT on gender at Agartala SRLM.
