Training for officers on Electoral Literacy Club held


Dimapur, September 19: Training for Nodal Officer, Campus Ambassadors & Booth Level Officer (Chunav Pathshala) on Electoral Literacy Club was held on September 18 at Council Hall, Mon.
Kumar Ramnikant, IAS, ADC & Nodal Officer, SVEEP Mon, while speaking on the function, said that Electoral Literacy Clubs are being set up in the country to promote electoral literacy in all age groups, especially the future and young voters, through interesting and engaging activities and hands on experience in an apolitical, neutral and non-partisan manner.
He also mentioned that to cater to the population outside the formal education structural, Electoral Literacy Clubs has been set at polling station level as Chunav Pathshalas.
The ADC also requested the BLOs to work sincerely during the special summary revision and to submit it to the office without waiting for the last day of submission.
He also mentioned that if there is any difficulty in filling up the forms, one may ask the Election Office, Supervisor, AEROs, ERO through phone call or WhatsApp.
Abel Swu, Assistant Professor, Wangkhao Government College & District Level Master Trainer (DLMT) for ELC, Mon gave a briefing on Electoral Literacy Club (ELC), saying that the main objectives of ELC is to educate the targeted population about voter registration, electoral process and related matters through hands on experience. It will help the target audience to understand the value of their votes and exercise their suffrage right in a confident, comfortable and ethical manner.
He also added that, ELC is to facilitate voter registration for its eligible members who are not yet registered. He also mentioned that ELC is to develop a culture of electoral participation with the principle ‘Every vote counts’ and ‘No voter to be left behind.’
P Pathong, LDA, Election Office; TheanglihYanlem, LDA, DC Office; Imoliba Jamir, LDA, Election Office; Abay, LDA, Election Office; Mankhat, LDA, Election Office, and Mosa LDA, Election Office were the resource persons during the training programme. Winsha, UDA, Election Office delivered the vote of thanks which was followed by games and activities conducted by DLMT & resources persons.
